Placemaking

Placemaking is a term that is used widely and has different meanings in different contexts.

Ideas of a holistic approach to place and placemaking are becoming more common and thinking of a building as part of it’s wider landscape can be important.

This page includes a few placemaking resources that you may find useful when thinking about how your building adds to the local area and contributes to any placemaking that may be in place or planned.

The Youth Forum's Manifesto

The Heritage Network Youth Forum’s placemaking subgroup were busy in 2024 creating a placemaking manifesto.

The placemaking group worked hard to create a manifesto which outlines their ideas and opinions on placemaking and the priorities which they think should be considered when approaching placemaking.

The manifesto was displayed and promoted at conference in Dunfermline on 30th September 2024, with members of the group hosting a breakout session to explain the manifesto and encourage delegates to think about placemaking and what they can do themselves.
