Our Experience

ARPL are a medium sized architectural practice based in Ayr with 3 directors: Rebecca Cadie RIAS RIBA Advanced Accredited Architect; Gordon Fleming RIAS RIBA Accredited in Sustainable Design; Robert Gilliland technical and financial director; 2 associates and a team of architects.

We carry out projects over a wide geographical area from the Orkneys and the Western Isles to Ireland. Our project experience covers the fields of housing, churches, schools, community and arts buildings, private houses and commercial projects. We have developed particular expertise in contemporary sustainable design, specialist conservation works and design for historically sensitive environments.
Our work has received wide recognition through numerous design and environmental awards presented over the years for our conservation work and new build. Regular success in design competitions adds to the practice portfolio.
We have detailed experience in the conservation field, and in particular with projects to provide new or alternative uses for listed or redundant building, including several Scheduled Monuments and Conservation Area Regeneration Schemes. Through this we have worked extensively assisting with clients grant negotiations with Historic Environment Scotland, NLHF and other funding bodies. This expertise has resulted in the practice being commissioned for a range of public buildings and the re-use or conversion of historic buildings.
The practice are proud of long term working relationships we have developed with some clients where we have carried out several projects and we value the opportunities of projects carried out in phases where a deeper knowledge and understanding of a building develops.
